“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
I took this shot 2 years ago when we traveled to Italy pregnant with our little lovebug. This specific spot is about 15 minutes from the house my mother grew up in and during the summer is crowded with fishermen, beach-goers and boaters. The ruins are of an old miltary post and there are many more like these up and down the coast.

I just completed Randy Pausch’s, The Last Lecture, and highly recommend it to everyone to read! It made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me want to appreciate life even more than I already think I do. The author looks back on his life and relives all the ups and downs and everything in between and we see how everything that happens really has something to teach us all. A must, must, must read!!!
I love this time of year when berries are in season and ripe for picking. Whether it be strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries, I am a berry fanatic and can’t get enough of them. Either eaten plain or with dips, they make the perfect snack during the blistering humidity of the East Coast.
Chocolate Fruit Dip Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 bag semi sweet chocolate morsels
- 1 stick butter
- ¼ cup corn syrup (light color)
Directions:
Mix together and melt in heavy pan until smooth. Dip berries in to coat. Place on wax paper and allow to harden. Best if placed in a cool room for a couple hours before serving.
These bushes of flowers (again, not much of a green thumb and do not know their name) do really well in our front yard and, when they are blooming, are an incredible sight. The stark contrast of the purplish-pink against the soft green is so beautiful to me and the heart-shaped petals are perfect. I think I like them so much because they kind of look like wildflowers to me and wildflowers always remind me of the farms outside my family’s home in Italy and seeing them brings me back there instantaneously. I would take long walks in the fields with my nonna while my brother ran alongside us and chase lizards and collect snails to later scare our cousin. Some days it seemed like we could walk forever and not have a care in the world.
